American soccer fans received some encouraging news a day ahead of the national team's "Round of 16" clash with Belgium Tuesday.
The U.S. Soccer federation announced Monday morning that forward Jozy Altidore will be available for the game. The USSF tweeted Monday that he "is ready and available."
Altidore has been sidelined since suffering a hamstring injury in the team's first game of the World Cup against Ghana on June 16.
It would be difficult to envision a scenario in which Altidore starts the match, but if healthy enough, he could prove a vital sub should the U.S. be in search of a goal late.
