Reporters Jeff Maher and Melissa Crowley get wet and chilly for a good cause.

A chilly challenge that's raising awareness for Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is sweeping across social media, and some of the News10 team is now part of it!

The challenge, which involves a person pouring ice water over themselves then nominating family or friends to do the same, aims to raise money and awareness for AMS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease.

Over the past few weeks, videos have popped up across social media feeds showing people dumping buckets of frigid water over their heads in support of the effort.

News10 reporters Jeff Maher and Melissa Crowley joined those ranks Monday, taking part in the challenge and then nominating their colleagues to follow.

The movement has gained steam thanks to the participation from sport coaches, actors and celebrities. Even President Obama was nominated by the entire Kennedy family.
