Starbucks is once again bucking the trend, by offering to pay two years worth of college expenses for its full and part-time employees.
It's an incentive that Starbucks is extending to both its full and part-time employees. The coffee giant will cover two full years of classes for its workers.
The benefit is through a partnership with Arizona State University's online studies program. There are 40 undergraduate degrees that employees can pick from, and they are not limited to just business related courses.
It's not the first time Starbucks has gone out of its way to help its employees. When other companies began increasing healthcare costs, Starbucks continued offering health insurance to both its full and part-time staff.
The Starbucks tuition benefit amounts to about $30,000 per employee. On the company's website, CEO Howard Schultz talks about the rising cost of tuition, and how the American dream has become so unreachable to most college graduates today because they are shackled by debt.
Starbucks has not yet released how much the tuition incentive program will cost them, partly because they don't know how many employees are going to sign up for it.
Most of the company's 135,000 employees are eligible for the incentive.
